Hyderabad police inspector suspended in case involving Telangana minister's former OSD

A police inspector at the Jubilee Hills station in Hyderabad has been suspended following allegations of negligence in a case involving N Sumant, the former Special Officer (OSD) to Telangana Minister Konda Surekha. Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar ordered the suspension of Station House Officer Mutthu Yadav, citing delays in filing an FIR and a failure to locate the accused.

N Sumant and five others face charges of attempted murder following a complaint by real estate businessman Gongidi Harikrishna. The complainant alleged that on July 30, he was lured to an office where he was assaulted with iron rods and sticks, resulting in a fractured arm and requiring surgery. Harikrishna further alleged that the attackers demanded 10 crore rupees.

While Sumant remains at large, police have detained his driver. A departmental inquiry has been ordered to review police conduct and the handling of the investigation.
