Hyderabad police dismantle interstate egg donation racket

Hyderabad law enforcement officials, led by Malkajgiri Police Commissioner B Sumathi, have dismantled an interstate human egg extraction network, rescuing 43 women during coordinated raids across Begumpet, Erragadda, Saroornagar, and Gopalapuram.

Investigators allege the racket targeted financially vulnerable women from West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra, luring them with promises of 20,000 to 30,000 rupees per donation cycle. The victims were reportedly housed in rented accommodations, including the Ami Neeta Girls Hostel in Prakash Nagar, before being referred to fertility centers.

Nine individuals have been arrested, including alleged mastermind Amit Sharma, who reportedly operated the scheme for two years. Other detainees include recruiters, agents, and a businessman, Emirishetty Durga Prasad. Police seized medical supplies, including syringes, needles, hormonal medications, and contraceptive pills, which have been sent for medical examination to determine if unauthorized procedures occurred.

Authorities are currently investigating suspected links to 23 In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) centers and are reviewing evidence of forged identity cards and medical consent forms. Criminal cases have been registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Assisted Reproductive Technology Act.
