Hyderabad police investigations into various crimes

Hyderabad police have conducted several investigations into diverse criminal activities. In the Jubilee Hills area, authorities increased surveillance on pubs following over 70 complaints regarding dating app honeytraps and inflated billing, with reported losses exceeding ₹35 lakh. Investigators are examining whether these incidents involve cheating or illegal extortion.

Additionally, a joint operation involving the Jubilee Hills Police and a Special Investigation Team led to the arrest of four Nepalese nationals, identified as Dharma Tiruwa, Ganesh B. K., Chandra Bahadur Tamang, and Ganesh Bahadur Shahi. They are accused of the murder of Tanuja Ranjan, the wife of a retired IPS officer, for the purpose of stealing gold jewellery.

Further investigations have targeted alleged rackets involving fertility procedures. Following raids on the Ami Nita Girls Hostel in Begumpet, law enforcement officials, led by Malkajgiri Police Commissioner B Sumathi, dismantled an interstate human egg extraction network, rescuing 43 women. Investigators allege the racket targeted financially vulnerable women from West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar, and Chhattisgarh, luring them with promises of 20,000 to 50,000 rupees per donation cycle. Nine individuals have been arrested, including alleged mastermind Amit Sharma and businessman Emirishetty Durga Prasad.

Authorities are investigating suspected links to 23 In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) centers. Recent complaints allege that certain centers allowed patients to select egg donors based on specific physical and social characteristics, such as caste, religion, and skin color. Police are reviewing evidence of forged identity cards and tracing financial transactions to determine if regulations were violated.
