Hyderabad reports surge in high-grade fever and H1N1 cases

Medical professionals in Hyderabad are reporting a significant surge in fever cases, characterized by high-grade temperatures reaching 104°F to 105°F, severe body aches, and fatigue. While many patients initially suspect dengue due to these symptoms, doctors note that dengue positivity rates remain low, with only one or two positive cases found in every 40 to 50 tests.

Health experts have identified H1N1 (swine flu) as a contributing factor to the rise in infections. Doctors at Virinchi Hospital have noted that patients with underlying conditions, such as diabetes, are particularly vulnerable. Some patients have required inpatient treatment after delays in seeking medical attention following prolonged high fevers.

Physicians suggest the current wave of viral infections may be driven by seasonal changes, fluctuating weather, and crowded public spaces. Vulnerable groups, including children and the elderly, are advised to practice hand hygiene and wear masks in crowded areas.
