Hyderabad water supply to be disrupted for 36 hours
The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) has announced a 36-hour disruption to the drinking water supply in several parts of Hyderabad. The maintenance is scheduled to begin at 6 am on Monday, October 5, and is expected to conclude by 6 pm on Tuesday, October 6.
The disruption is due to essential repair and replacement work on a 2,375-mm diameter mild steel (MS) pumping main between Nasarlapally and Godakondla, part of the Krishna Drinking Water Supply Project (KDWSP) Phase II. The work involves replacing damaged MS air tees and valves, as well as rectifying a leak in the scour pipeline.
Residents in various southern, eastern, central, and northern localities may experience complete or partial water suspension, or low water pressure. Affected areas include Adibatla, Uppal, Tarnaka, Begumpet, Secunderabad Cantonment, and Shamshabad, among others. The water board has advised residents to store sufficient water in advance and use supplies judiciously during the maintenance period.
