Hyderabad woman avoids scammer impersonating ride-hailing driver

A video has surfaced on social media showing a woman in Hyderabad's Charminar area narrowly avoiding a potential confrontation with an individual impersonating a ride-hailing driver.

According to the woman, a man on a scooter approached her around 9:00 PM while she was waiting for an auto-rickshaw, offering her a ride. When she questioned if he was a Rapido driver, the man claimed to be one but could not produce a valid driver ID. Instead, he reportedly attempted to download the Rapido app from the Google Play Store when asked for identification. The individual eventually fled the scene after the woman began shouting and attracting the attention of bystanders.

The woman shared the footage to warn others about individuals using the names of trusted ride-hailing services to gain passenger trust. Rapido responded to the incident on social media, advising passengers to always verify driver and vehicle details through the app and to use the OTP system to confirm the correct driver before starting a trip.
