Hyderabad cybercrime and extortion investigation

A woman in Hyderabad has reported a man, identified as Ambavari Vamsi, to the Malkajgiri Cybercrime Police for alleged extortion, harassment, and death threats.

The victim, a 33-year-old insurance company deputy manager, claims Vamshi extorted 15 lakh rupees from her under the false pretense of starting a software company in the United States. Following the cancellation of their engagement, the suspect allegedly transitioned to demanding advance dowry payments and launched a campaign of online abuse.

According to the complaint, Vamshi sent emails to the victim’s workplace containing false allegations of drug addiction and terrorism links involving her family. The victim also reported receiving threats of murder and acid attacks. An investigation into the matter is currently ongoing.
