Hydration Tips for Hot Weather Emphasize Fruit and Water Intake
Health experts recommend consuming fruits with high water content such as cucumbers, tomatoes, watermelon, pineapple, and apricots to help the body stay hydrated during hot days. These foods not only supply water but also provide vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that support normal bodily functions and help regulate temperature.
The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics advises that average daily water intake should be about 11.5 glasses for women and 15.5 glasses for men, including fluids obtained from food. Adequate hydration supports kidney function, digestion, joint lubrication, temperature regulation, and cognitive performance, while insufficient intake can lead to dehydration symptoms such as headache, fatigue, and reduced concentration.
