HP HyperX Omen Max 16 gaming laptop review
The HP HyperX Omen Max 16 is a high-performance gaming laptop designed to maximize the capabilities of the Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus CPU and the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 GPU. In its ‘Unleashed’ mode, the device can reach a GPU power consumption of nearly 175 W, significantly higher than many competitors that typically cap at 140 W.
Key features include a QHD+ OLED display with G-Sync support, an integrated numeric keypad, and a robust build. The system offers expandability with two SODIMM slots and two M.2 2280 SSD slots. While it provides strong performance and decent battery life in iGPU mode, it faces drawbacks such as significant weight, a bulky 460 W AC adapter, loud fans exceeding 55 dB(A) during intense gaming, and relatively weak speakers.
Other models in the HyperX OMEN lineup, such as the 15-inch version featuring an Ultra 7 255H processor and RTX 5060 graphics, are also available at various price points.
