Høyre local branches demand continued fuel tax cuts
Thirty-four local branches of the Conservative Party (Høyre) have sent a protest letter to the party leadership demanding the extension of fuel tax cuts beyond September 1.
Local leaders, including Vegard Bjørnevik, the Conservative mayor of Kvinnherad, argue that unpredictable oil prices and economic conditions pose a threat to the construction and entrepreneurship industries. The protesters emphasize that diesel, rather than gasoline, is the primary driver for Norwegian business and transport sectors. They urge the Storting to maintain tax relief to support these industries, which they view as essential to the country's development and operation.
