Hyrox aims for Olympic inclusion as global popularity grows

Hyrox, a global hybrid racing sport combining running with functional strength exercises, is aiming for inclusion in the Olympic Games. Co-founder and two-time Olympic hockey champion Moritz Fürste stated that the organization intends to participate in the application process for the 2032 Olympic Games.

Since its founding in 2017 by Fürste and Christian Toetzke, the sport has expanded significantly. It now reaches approximately 1.5 million participants across 30 countries. The competition format consists of eight one-kilometer running intervals interspersed with functional stations such as SkiErg, sled pushes, rowing, and wall balls.

The sport's growth has also seen it appeal to diverse demographics, including athletes over the age of 50, who utilize structured training plans to manage the high-intensity transitions between aerobic running and strength elements.
