HYROX fitness competitions expand in Turkey and Greece

HYROX, a fitness sport combining running with functional strength and endurance exercises, is expanding its presence in Europe. The competition format consists of eight 1km runs interspersed with eight specific fitness stations, including the SkiErg, sled push, sled pull, burpee broad jumps, rowing, farmers carry, sandbag lunges, and wall balls.

In Turkey, the HYROX event held in Izmir saw more than 2,000 athletes compete across 14 different categories. This marked the first time the event was held outside of Istanbul. Notable participants included members from MAC, with various winners identified in the Open, Doubles, and Relay categories.

Greece also recently hosted its first HYROX race. The sport requires high aerobic capacity and significant strength in the legs and core. Elite athletes in the discipline have demonstrated exceptional running abilities, such as Madelyn Eybergen and Joanna Wietrzyk.
