Hyrox hybrid racing expands globally, targets Olympic debut
Hyrox is a hybrid racing sport that mixes running with eight strength‑training stations. It was founded in 2017 by two‑time Olympic field‑hockey champion Moritz Fürste and sport‑event manager Christian Toetzke to give fitness‑studio athletes a competitive platform.
In less than ten years the format has spread worldwide. Races are scheduled in Chengdu and Shenzhen (China), Chiba (Japan), Istanbul (Turkey), Bangkok (Thailand), Cape Town (South Africa), Perth (Australia) and Washington DC (USA). English is the official language and the organizers hope the sport will be included in future Olympic Games.
