Hysata expands green hydrogen production through new partnership and factory

Australian electrolyser manufacturer Hysata has entered an engineering collaboration with InterContinental Energy (ICE) to reduce the cost of large-scale green hydrogen production. The partnership will integrate Hysata’s capillary-fed electrolyser design into ICE’s modular P2(H2)Node architecture, which is designed to co-locate hydrogen production with wind and solar generation.

Hysata’s technology claims a 95% system efficiency, approximately 20% higher than current industry standards. This efficiency is achieved by using a capillary to draw electrolyte up through the cell, preventing energy-wasting gas bubbles.

In a separate development, Hysata has launched HysataFab at its Port Kembla headquarters. Supported by a $49 million federal government investment, this AI-enhanced, 8,500-square-meter facility features a 50 MW per annum production line. The facility is capable of scaling up to 200 megawatts of electrolyser production annually and utilizes artificial intelligence, robotics, and real-time monitoring to increase production output by up to 15%. The expansion is expected to create 40 local jobs and support regional suppliers.
