Hyundai aims for realistic engine feel in next‑gen electric N cars
Hyundai’s global R&D chief Manfred Harrer said the company will make its simulated e‑shift gearbox for the electric N performance line more realistic. Future models may include virtual idling, exhaust back‑firing and vibration cues to mimic combustion‑engine characteristics. The enhancements are being tested and will ride on Hyundai’s upcoming Integrated Modular Architecture (IMA), the successor to the current E‑GMP platform that underpins the Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6 and forthcoming Ioniq 9.
The Ioniq 5, a retro‑styled electric SUV, is currently offered in Turkey with 63 kWh and 84 kWh battery options, delivering up to 570 km WLTP range and 350 kW fast‑charging capability. Prices start at 2 484 602 TRY, with promotional charging credits available. The model’s spacious interior, dual‑screen cockpit and rapid charging have made it a notable contender in the electric‑vehicle market.
