Hyundai and Kia win two categories at German Car of the Year 2027

Hyundai Motor and Kia have secured two category wins at the ‘German Car of the Year (GCOTY) 2027’ awards. The Hyundai IONIQ 6 N was named the winner in the Performance category, recognized by an independent jury for its driving dynamics and driver-centric design. The Kia PV5, a dedicated purpose-built vehicle (PBV), won the Compact category, with judges noting its practicality and impressive design within its price range.

Both models have advanced to the final round to compete for the overall ‘German Car of the Year 2027’ title. They will face four other category winners: the Volkswagen ID. Polo (Budget), Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric (Premium), Xpeng X9 (Luxury), and a fifth model to be determined through comparative testing. The final winner will be announced on November 2, following intensive track and road testing of the five finalists.
