Hyundai Avante undergoes major redesign with increased size and price

The eighth-generation Hyundai Avante has undergone a significant redesign, featuring an increased body size and a higher price point compared to its predecessor. The new model offers improved interior space, enhanced visibility, and a more rigid chassis designed to provide a more stable driving experience.

Key technological upgrades include the Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control 2 (NSCC2), which functions on both highways and general roads by automatically adjusting speed for speed zones, speed bumps, and intersections. The interior has been modernized with the Pleos Connect infotainment system, though the performance of the new 'Gleo AI' voice assistant was noted as inconsistent.

While the vehicle demonstrates improved quietness through the use of dual-layer floor carpets and acoustic tires, some drawbacks were identified. The 2.0 gasoline engine exhibits a delayed initial acceleration response, and engine noise becomes prominent during high-speed acceleration. These factors, combined with the price increase of several million won, present a mixed value proposition for consumers.
