Hyundai begins Ioniq 3 production at Türkiye İzmit plant
Hyundai has officially commenced mass production of the Ioniq 3 electric vehicle at its İzmit plant in Türkiye. This marks the first time a foreign automaker has produced a fully electric passenger vehicle in the country. The production launch follows a €250 million investment aimed at modernizing over half of the facility to support next-generation electric and hybrid mobility.
Initially, the İzmit plant is expected to produce approximately 30,000 Ioniq 3 units annually, with the majority intended for export to European markets. Hyundai Motor Türkiye CEO Alex Kim noted that the facility has undergone a comprehensive transformation to accommodate this new model. The plant's flexible production strategy allows for adjustments between electric, hybrid, and internal combustion models based on market demand.
In the UK, the Ioniq 3 is now on sale with prices starting at £22,245. The vehicle is available in various trim levels, including Advance, Premium, Ultimate, and N Line Evo, offering battery options that provide ranges between 213 and 308 miles. In France, the model is also generating significant interest as Hyundai seeks to strengthen its competitive position in the European electric vehicle segment.
