Hyundai Elantra discontinued in India, 2027 redesign unveiled

Hyundai announced the discontinuation of the Elantra sedan in India in April 2022 as consumer demand shifted toward SUVs. The model, which offered a 2.0‑litre petrol engine, dual‑zone climate control, ventilated seats and safety equipment such as six airbags, was priced between roughly ₹15 lakh and ₹21 lakh before it left the Indian market.

Separately, design renderings and test‑drive footage show the upcoming 2027 Hyundai Elantra with a more futuristic appearance. The new version features a full‑width LED lighting strip, a lower‑placed main headlamp, sharper front‑end lines and a wide rear light bar. Inside, a larger digital instrument cluster of about 9.9 inches and an infotainment screen up to 17 inches are expected, running on Hyundai’s new Pleos OS with an AI assistant called Gleo. Powertrain options will likely include a 2.0 L gasoline engine, a 1.6 L turbo, and a next‑generation hybrid system, while an updated SmartSense safety suite is planned. The 2027 Elantra is slated to debut in South Korea in 2026 before reaching international markets in 2027.
