Hyundai expands EV lineup with Ioniq 5 cockpit redesign and Ioniq 9 farm‑ready SUV
Hyundai Motor Company has introduced a major interior overhaul for its Ioniq 5 electric hatchback. The new cockpit replaces the dual 12.3‑inch displays with a single vertical central screen measuring 17‑18 inches, eliminates the traditional instrument cluster and most physical buttons, and moves information to a head‑up display. The vehicle runs on Hyundai’s Android‑based operating system, Pleos Connect, supporting deeper over‑the‑air updates and a move toward a software‑defined vehicle platform that the company aims to equip in up to 20 million cars by 2030.
In parallel, Hyundai unveiled the Ioniq 9, a 5‑meter‑long, 2.7‑ton electric SUV designed for agricultural use. It delivers 428 hp, 700 Nm of torque, all‑wheel drive, and a towing capacity of 2,500 kg. The SUV features a Vehicle‑to‑Load (V2L) outlet capable of supplying up to 3.6 kW, a spacious cabin with up to 2,000 L of cargo space, and flexible seating for six or seven passengers. Both models illustrate Hyundai’s push to broaden its electric‑vehicle portfolio and integrate advanced software and utility features for diverse markets.
