Hyundai expands high-performance EV lineup with IONIQ 6 N

Hyundai is expanding its high-performance electric vehicle lineup with the IONIQ 6 N, a sedan that shares technical components with the IONIQ 5 N but offers distinct driving characteristics. Both models utilize a dual-motor system producing 641 hp (up to 650 CV) and 770 Nm of torque.

The IONIQ 6 N benefits from a lower, lighter sedan body, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 3.2 to 3.4 seconds. While the lower center of gravity suggests improved handling, professional driver Sam Maher-Loughnan noted that the sedan’s extremely sharp handling requires significant driver courage to achieve optimal lap times.

Key performance technologies include the N Drift Optimizer for managing drift angles, N Torque Distribution, and the N Battery thermal management system, which features Drag, Sprint, and Endurance modes to maintain ideal temperatures. The vehicle is built on the 800-volt E-GMP platform, supporting rapid charging from 10% to 80% in about 18 minutes, with a WLTP range of 487 km.
