Hyundai expands manufacturing investments in Illinois and Louisiana

Hyundai Translead has announced an increase in its planned investment for new manufacturing operations in Will County, Illinois. The company is raising its investment to $600 million, up from an initial $450 million, and expanding its job commitment to 3,750 full-time positions. This expansion includes the addition of a third production shift to meet growing customer demand and increase U.S. manufacturing capacity.

In Louisiana, Hyundai-POSCO Louisiana Steel (HPLS) is preparing for workforce expansion at its Ascension Parish plant. The company expects to hire between 230 and 300 employees by the end of 2027, with a significant hiring wave planned for 2028 to reach approximately 1,000 employees. The facility ultimately aims to employ roughly 1,400 workers. To support this growth, HPLS is collaborating with local educational institutions and is constructing the RPCC-Hyundai Training Center, which is scheduled to open in spring 2028.
