Hyundai, Kia and Others Recall Over 510,000 Vehicles in South Korea

South Korea's transport ministry announced that Hyundai Motor Company, Kia Corp., Stellantis Korea and Honda Korea will voluntarily recall a total of 511,239 vehicles spanning 13 models. The recall addresses several safety defects: faulty nut fastening on engine components that can cause fuel leaks and fire in Hyundai G80, G90, GV70, GV80, Grandeur and Kia K8 and Carnival; inadequate software design in hybrid‑integrated control units that may overheat and ignite in Hyundai Avante Hybrid and Grandeur Hybrid; and insufficient software for the forward‑collision‑assist system that could mis‑operate in Hyundai Tucson and Tucson Hybrid. Additionally, Stellantis' Jeep Cherokee (711 units) is being recalled for a power‑transfer‑unit defect that may result in loss of drive, and Honda's Odyssey (2,424 units) for rear‑camera case cracks that could allow water ingress.

The recall actions begin on Dec. 12 for the fuel‑leak models, Dec. 13 for the hybrid‑controller issue and have already started for the collision‑assist software. Repairs will be performed free of charge at dealer service centers or via over‑the‑air updates where possible. Owners will be notified by mail and text, and reimbursement is available for any out‑of‑pocket costs incurred before the recall is completed.
