Hyundai launches IONIQ 3 electric hatchback for Europe

Hyundai has officially opened orders for the IONIQ 3, a compact electric hatchback specifically designed for the European market. Developed in Rüsselsheim, Germany, the vehicle will be produced at the company’s plant in İzmit, Turkey, to maintain competitive pricing against European and Chinese rivals.

The IONIQ 3 features an ‘Aero Hatch’ design with a drag coefficient of 0.263, enabling a maximum WLTP range of 497 km with the 61 kWh long-range battery. It is available in five trim levels and two battery configurations: a 42.2 kWh standard range offering up to 344 km, and the 61 kWh version. The car introduces the ‘Pleos Connect’ infotainment system, based on Android Automotive OS, which features large central touchscreens of up to 14.6 inches.

Notably, some entry-level models may lack a traditional digital instrument cluster behind the steering wheel, requiring drivers to use the central touchscreen for speed and autonomy data. This configuration is part of a broader strategy to manage costs in the highly competitive urban EV segment.
