Hyundai expands EV lineup with Ioniq 3 and Santa Fe EREV
Hyundai is expanding its electric vehicle lineup with several key model updates and new technologies. The new Ioniq 3, an aerodynamic hatchback designed for the European market, is being positioned as an accessible mass-market electric vehicle. However, the model has drawn attention for its cost-saving design choices; base trims may lack a traditional digital instrument cluster behind the steering wheel, instead relying on the central infotainment screen to display speed and vehicle status.
In the commercial sector, the Hyundai Staria Electric is being introduced in various markets, including versions for both passenger and cargo use.
Additionally, Hyundai has confirmed plans for the Santa Fe EREV (Extended Range Electric Vehicle), expected to arrive in the first half of 2027. Produced in the United States, this model will utilize a smaller battery paired with an internal combustion engine that acts primarily as a generator to extend the total driving range to approximately 1,000 kilometers.
