Hyundai Motor Company launches Ioniq V electric sedan in China
Hyundai Motor Company has officially launched the Ioniq V, a strategic electric sedan specifically designed for the Chinese market. To compete with local manufacturers, Hyundai has set an aggressive entry price, with the base model starting at approximately 99,900 yuan (roughly 18.18 million KRW) after applying promotional discounts.
The Ioniq V is offered in five different trims, utilizing lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries supplied by CATL. Depending on the configuration, the vehicle provides a driving range of up to 650 km (CLTC) and supports 800V ultra-fast charging. The interior is equipped with a 27-inch 4K wide display and integrates AI models from Chinese tech firms Baidu and ByteDance.
Technological localization is a key component of the launch. The vehicle features an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) co-developed with the Chinese startup Momenta. This launch is part of Hyundai's broader strategy to regain market share in China, with a goal to introduce 20 new models over the next five years and increase annual sales at Beijing Hyundai to 500,000 units.
