Hyundai Motor expands lineup with new Ioniq SUVs and Tucson updates

Hyundai Motor Company is significantly expanding its vehicle lineup through new electric and high-performance models. The company plans to add two new electric SUVs to its Ioniq brand within the next 12 to 18 months. These include a family-oriented SUV, potentially named ‘Ioniq 7’, positioned between the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 9, and a smaller B-segment SUV, referred to as ‘Ioniq 4’, designed to compete in the European market.

Additionally, the upcoming fifth-generation Tucson is undergoing major updates. The new model has completed emissions and noise certification, featuring a shift from a 7-speed DCT to an 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission for the 1.6 gasoline turbo engine. The hybrid variant will incorporate next-generation technology from the Grandeur, focusing on improved NVH (noise, vibration, and harshness) levels and efficiency. The new Tucson also boasts increased dimensions, with a width that exceeds larger models like the Sorento.

Furthermore, Hyundai’s high-performance N brand is expected to introduce a ‘Tucson N’. This model is anticipated to feature a high-performance hybrid powertrain, potentially delivering over 300 horsepower through a combination of a turbo engine, electric motor, and e-AWD system, offering a performance-oriented alternative to pure EVs or traditional internal combustion engines.
