Hyundai Motor Group promotes hydrogen mobility at Jeju Green Hydrogen Forum

Hyundai Motor Group participated in the 2026 Jeju Green Hydrogen Global Forum to discuss the integration of renewable energy and hydrogen for energy transition. During the event, the group emphasized the role of hydrogen mobility in enhancing urban resilience.

Hyundai Motor Group presented that hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) should be viewed as complementary to battery electric vehicles (BEVs) rather than competitors. FCEVs are positioned as ideal solutions for long-distance, heavy-duty, and essential transport sectors, such as buses, taxis, and logistics trucks, due to their fast charging and long driving ranges.

Jeju Special Self-Governing Province is actively expanding its hydrogen infrastructure. A 3.3MW electrolysis plant in Gujwa-eup has been producing approximately 200kg of hydrogen daily since September 2024 to supply local hydrogen buses and passenger cars. The province aims to introduce a cumulative total of 370 hydrogen vehicles, including 290 passenger cars and 76 buses, by 2027.

At the forum, Hyundai also showcased the All New Nexo, a second-generation hydrogen vehicle capable of a maximum driving range of 720km on a single charge.
