Automakers in India announce vehicle price hikes for September
Major automobile manufacturers in India are implementing price increases across their vehicle lineups effective September 1, 2026, citing rising input costs, commodity prices, and inflationary pressures.
Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd has announced price hikes of up to Rs 25,000. This adjustment applies to its entire portfolio, including both internal combustion engine (ICE) models and electric vehicles (EVs). The company noted that while it continues to absorb a significant portion of rising costs, a price revision is necessary to offset sustained economic pressures.
Hyundai Motor India is also raising prices by up to 1% across its entire range, including popular models such as the Creta, Venue, and Exter. This marks Hyundai's third price increase in 2026. The company attributed the move to higher operational expenses and macroeconomic uncertainties.
Additionally, Maruti Suzuki recently implemented price revisions for its Arena and Nexa models, with increases ranging from Rs 2,500 to Rs 30,000. These industry-wide adjustments reflect a broader trend of manufacturers passing on higher costs for raw materials, components, and logistics to consumers.
