Hyundai recalls over 14,000 electric Inster cars in Germany over fire risk

Hyundai Motor Company has issued a recall for more than 14,000 Inster electric cars in Germany after the German Federal Motor Transport Authority (Kraftfahrt‑Bundesamt) identified a defective three‑way valve in the coolant circuit. The valve can leak coolant, which may contact electrical components, cause a short circuit and lead to a vehicle fire.

The recall covers 14,610 vehicles in Germany and 40,045 worldwide, produced between 14 February 2024 and 14 April 2026. Owners are instructed to check their vehicle identification number, contact an authorized Hyundai service centre and have the faulty valve replaced free of charge.

Hyundai will replace the valve with an updated part at no cost to customers, aiming to eliminate the fire hazard and restore safety for the affected models.
