Hyundai tests new sub-4m electric SUV for India

Hyundai is developing a new sub-four-meter electric SUV for the Indian market, part of a broader plan to launch 26 models by 2030. Recent spy shots of the vehicle, codenamed HE1i, reveal the inclusion of the Pleos Connect infotainment system, which features a 17-inch central touchscreen and a 9.9-inch digital instrument cluster designed to minimize driver information overload.

The upcoming EV is expected to include Level 2 ADAS with lane-keep assist, sequential turn signals, ventilated seats, and a panoramic glass roof. Mechanically, the vehicle may utilize in-house developed battery cells with capacities ranging from 42-51kWh, potentially offering a range of up to 450km. Depending on the battery chemistry used, such as NMC or LFP, the entry price is estimated to be between Rs. 10-12 lakh.

Scheduled for launch in late 2026 or early 2027, the model is positioned to compete in the price-sensitive small SUV segment.
