Hyundai SUV expansion in India

Overview

Hyundai is expanding its SUV offerings in the Indian market with several new models scheduled for release in late 2026 or early 2027.

Initial developments focus on the Bayon SUV, a model positioned between the Venue and Creta. The Bayon is expected to feature a 1.5-litre petrol engine or a 1.2-litre turbo petrol variant, and it may be the first in its segment to offer a CNG option. The vehicle is anticipated to include dual curved displays and a price range between Rs 8 lakh and Rs 15 lakh.

Concurrently, the company is developing a sub-four-meter electric SUV, codenamed HE1i. This EV is expected to feature the Pleos Connect infotainment system, Level 2 ADAS, and a battery capacity between 42-51kWh, potentially providing a range of up to 450km. This launch is part of Hyundai’s broader strategy to introduce 26 models in India by 2030.
