Hyundai unveils eighth‑generation Avante (Elantra) at Busan Mobility Show

Hyundai Motor Company revealed the eighth‑generation Avante, known globally as the Elantra, at the Busan Mobility Show in South Korea. The new model adopts the "Art of Steel" design language, featuring sharper body lines, larger dimensions (4.77 m long, 1.86 m wide, 2.75 m wheelbase) and a more spacious interior.

Inside, the cabin is equipped with a minimalist layout and large digital displays, including a 14.6‑inch central touchscreen and a 12.9‑inch instrument panel. Hyundai introduced its Pleos Connect software platform and a generative‑AI virtual assistant called Gleo AI, enabling natural‑language voice control. Safety equipment includes ten airbags and an advanced driver‑assistance suite with Smart Cruise Control 2.

Powertrain options for the Korean market comprise a 2.0‑litre gasoline engine (149 hp) and a 1.6‑litre full‑hybrid unit (157 hp). Hyundai also hinted at a performance‑oriented Avante N with a 2.5‑litre turbo engine. The model is expected to reach Korean dealerships by year‑end, with a North‑American launch slated for 2027 and possible entry into select European markets.
