Hyundai unveils fifth-generation Tucson SUV
Hyundai Motor Company has unveiled the fifth generation of its best-selling global SUV, the Tucson. Making its global debut in New York City, the new model features a significant redesign under the ‘Art of Steel’ philosophy, characterized by more robust, geometric exterior lines, muscular wheel arches, and advanced lighting such as the H-Edge signature and optional Micro Pixel LED technology.
The updated Tucson offers increased dimensions and a more spacious interior, with a boot capacity of up to 695 liters. Technological upgrades include the Pleos Connect infotainment platform, which supports Android Automotive OS and features Gleo AI voice recognition. The cabin also introduces a dual-layer dashboard with digital displays ranging from 9.9 to 17 inches.
Hyundai is emphasizing electrification with a diverse powertrain lineup. Options include gasoline engines, a 48V mild hybrid, a conventional hybrid (HEV) delivering up to 245 hp, and a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant producing 292 hp with an estimated electric-only range of 81 km. The vehicle is expected to launch in South Korea in 2026, followed by North America, Europe, and other global markets in 2027.
