Hyundai unveils Staria Camper Concept with solar roof

Hyundai has introduced the Staria Camper Concept, an electric van designed to provide greater independence for campers through integrated solar technology. Unveiled at the CMT exhibition in Stuttgart, the concept vehicle features a pop-up roof equipped with a 520-watt solar panel. This panel is estimated to generate up to 2.6 kWh of energy daily under five hours of sunlight, which can be used to power onboard appliances like a 36-liter refrigerator or assist with vehicle range.

The camper is based on the Staria Electric hardware, utilizing an 84 kWh battery and an 800-volt system. It is powered by a 160kW front motor producing 218PS. While the standard electric van has a certified range of approximately 430km, the increased weight of the camper equipment is expected to reduce the estimated WLTP range to roughly 400km. The design also includes a galley, a shower, and strengthened suspension to accommodate a potential 2,000 kg braked towing capacity.

Currently, the Staria Camper remains a study. Hyundai is collecting feedback and seeking approval before deciding on mass production, with Europe identified as a primary market if the project moves forward. No official pricing or production timeline has been confirmed.
