HZMO reports increase in insured persons in Croatia

The Croatian Pension Insurance Institute (HZMO) reported that the number of insured persons reached 1,797,071 by the end of August 2026. This represents an increase of 16,263 or 0.91 percent compared to the same month in the previous year.

Compared to August 2024, the number of insured individuals rose by 52,941, a 3.04 percent increase. Looking back to August 2023, the figure grew by 115,257, or 6.85 percent. As an indicator of employment levels, the highest number of insured persons by sector was recorded in wholesale and retail trade with 249,991 individuals, followed by the manufacturing industry with 242,489, construction with 155,135, and the hospitality and tourism sector with 149,285.
