Đội K72 uncovers new artifacts in Minh Đức war graves, Vietnam

On August 1, Team K72 of the Dong Nai Military Command announced the discovery of additional personal artifacts in collective war graves at Minh Đức commune, Dong Nai city. The items include a blue pen engraved with “Văn Chín”, a white‑cream pen marked “Hiển” with an airplane motif, another blue pen bearing “UOC UO” and “SN‑39”, and a hair comb inscribed with “KY”. These objects were found alongside photographs, weapons, ammunition and other belongings recovered from the graves.

The team has been excavating the site since mid‑July, having already exhumed 26 remains and collected hundreds of artifacts. More than half of the skeletal fragments are suitable for DNA testing, which could help identify the fallen soldiers. K72 hopes that veterans, former comrades or families will recognize the engraved names and provide information, allowing the deceased to be reunited with their relatives. Earlier, a tip from local resident Nguyễn Ngọc Thành led investigators to an AK rifle, which guided them to the first burial chamber containing four soldiers and numerous artifacts.
