IAEA detects new activity at Iran’s fortified Jabal al-Fas site

International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi has reported signs of new construction and activity at the Jabal al-Fas site in Iran. This highly fortified facility is located south of the main Natanz uranium enrichment plant.

Satellite imagery and remote sensing have revealed movement around the construction site, though IAEA inspectors have not yet been granted access to the tunnel complex carved inside the mountain. While Grossi noted indicators of activity, he stated that current information is insufficient to determine the specific nature or purpose of these actions.

The Jabal al-Fas site is believed to be part of Iran’s efforts to protect sensitive nuclear infrastructure from potential airstrikes by utilizing deep, underground fortifications. This development occurs amid heightened international pressure on Tehran following decisions to refer Iran’s nuclear file to the UN Security Council due to non-compliance issues.

U.S. President Donald Trump has also addressed the situation, warning Iran against continuing what he described as “concerning” movements at the site and suggesting a strong military response if activities persist.
