Iași and Chișinău undertake municipal housing safety upgrades

The Iași municipal authorities began demolishing more than 600 unauthorized roof structures, including mansards and unsanctioned extensions, after identifying 622 such constructions that posed safety risks. The first demolition took place in the Podului Metalurgiei area, and the city plans to continue inspections across all districts, urging property‑owner associations to regularise or remove hazardous builds.

In Chișinău, the Buiucani sector started replacing ageing wooden windows in residential stairwells with insulated PVC units as part of the city's housing‑modernisation programme. The project aims to improve energy efficiency and living conditions for residents of municipal apartment blocks.

Both initiatives reflect local governments' efforts to enhance building safety and upgrade housing stock in their respective regions.
