IAML 2026 Music Libraries Conference scheduled for Thessaloniki, Greece

The International Association of Music Libraries, Archives and Documentation Centres (IAML) will hold its 2026 conference in Thessaloniki, Greece, from 28 June to 3 July. The event takes place at the Music Hall of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and marks the first IAML meeting in Greece, coinciding with the organisation’s 75‑year anniversary.

Organisers include the university’s Library of Music Studies, the Central Library of Aristotle University, the Greek IAML branch and the Hellenic Association of Librarians and Information Scientists. The programme features more than 140 scholarly papers, workshops and interdisciplinary sessions, alongside cultural performances that showcase Byzantine chant, vocal and contemporary Greek music, and the first global presentation of harp works. An exhibition will display Byzantine music manuscripts from the National Library of Greece and other collections, while AI‑generated video will accompany a performance of a 14th‑century chant.

The Institute of Greek Music Heritage (IEMK) and the Qualco Foundation are supporting the conference, highlighting Greece’s role in the international effort to preserve and digitise musical archives.
