IAS officer Gyanendra Kumar arrested in KPSC recruitment scam

IAS officer Gyanendra Kumar Gangwar, formerly the Controller of Examinations for the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC), is set to be produced in a Bengaluru court following his arrest in connection with a recruitment scam. The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is expected to seek 14 days of custody for further questioning regarding alleged irregularities in the recruitment of veterinary officers.

The investigation focuses on the manipulation of OMR answer sheets, irregularities in the evaluation process, and the potential involvement of officials and intermediaries. Investigators are also looking into allegations that selected candidates received training at hotels and resorts as part of the process.

In related developments, the CID conducted a search at the residence of BJP leader Basavaraj Kannale in Bidar district. The probe may expand to include former KPSC chairman Shivashankarappa Sahukar and other individuals associated with the commission. The Enforcement Directorate had previously searched Gangwar’s Bengaluru residence on August 23.
