IAS officer Rinku Singh Rahi transferred in Uttar Pradesh after clash with BJP block chief
IAS officer Rinku Singh Rahi, who was serving as the sub‑district magistrate in Jalaun, Uttar Pradesh, was transferred on Tuesday to the judicial sub‑division post in Urai, replacing Rakesh Kumar Sony. The move followed a physical altercation on 23 June between Rahi and BJP block chief Ramraja Niranjan during a cold‑storage inspection, which was captured on video that went viral on 29 June. After the video spread, Jalaun tehsil staff accused the officer of misconduct, staged a protest and applied for collective leave. District magistrate Rajesh Kumar Pandey formed a five‑member committee to investigate and described the transfer as a routine administrative action in the public interest.
Rahi has a history of disputes, including a 2025 incident in Shahjahanpur where he intervened in a sanitation matter and faced legal challenges, leading to a prior transfer. Earlier in 2023 he briefly tendered a technical resignation but later withdrew it, after which he was appointed in Jalaun. The latest transfer is presented by officials as unrelated to the recent clash, despite public perception linking the two events.
