IATA announces 2026 aviation safety conferences in Istanbul
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has announced upcoming aviation industry events to be held in Istanbul, Turkey, in October 2026.
On October 5, 2026, the IATA Turbulence Aware User Forum will take place. This forum aims to discuss how data-driven tools can improve turbulence management and enhance flight safety and efficiency. The Turbulence Aware platform provides real-time, anonymous turbulence reports from airlines worldwide to assist pilots in making operational adjustments.
Following the forum, the IATA World Safety and Operations Conference (WSOC) will be held from October 6–8, 2026, hosted by Turkish Airlines. Under the theme ‘Performance Through People,’ the conference will address the human factor in aviation safety, alongside topics such as artificial intelligence, crisis management, and operational resilience. The event will explore the intersection of human decision-making and increasing technological automation in risk management.
