Iberdrola launches first US battery storage plant as European renewable projects expand

Iberdrola, through its US subsidiary Avangrid, announced the construction of its first large‑scale battery storage facility in Gilliam County, Oregon. The Shutler plant will have a 41 MW power rating and 82 MWh of storage capacity, enough to supply power for two hours during peak demand, enhancing grid stability for the Northwest’s growing renewable generation.

In Spain’s Balearic Islands, the Cap Blanc solar park near Llucmajor is under construction with a capacity of 44.07 MWp. Expected to start commercial operation in late 2026, the project will generate about 74 GWh annually—enough for roughly 21,300 households—and avoid about 19,100 t of CO₂ each year. Investors can participate via Fundeen, receiving a fixed 7 % annual return over five years, backed by a guarantee from Mirova Energy Transition.

Spanish residential‑care group Savia certified that all electricity used by its facilities in 2025 came from renewable sources, receiving a CNMC verification and Endesa’s green‑energy seal. The group operates 22 centres in the Valencian Community, reinforcing its sustainability commitments across more than 2,600 residential places.
