Iberdrola financing surge; Repsol buyback; Galp profit jump

Entities: Goldman Sachs · Elecnor · Barclays · Josu Jon Imaz · RBC Capital Markets

Overview

Iberdrola’s sustainable‑financing programme continued its rapid expansion in the first half of 2026, securing €5.336 billion of new capital, of which €4.842 billion were green‑bond issuances. This raised the utility’s total green‑funding portfolio to €71.152 billion, reinforcing its position as the world’s largest private issuer of green bonds for internal projects.

Galp Energia confirmed the earlier‑reported 44 % rise in first‑half net profit to €812 million and a 47 % jump in adjusted EBITDA to €2.216 billion. The oil group reaffirmed its proposal to increase the dividend by 10 % to €0.70 per share, with an interim €0.35 dividend payable in August.

Repsol announced a fresh share‑repurchase programme of up to €500 million, adding to the €350 million buyback already executed this week and bringing total commitments to €850 million. The company will seek approval for a third tranche in October, aiming to return 30‑40 % of operating cash flow to shareholders. Analysts lifted price targets, with several banks now valuing the stock between €30 and €35 per share, implying upside of roughly 40 %.

Other Iberian firms also reported solid first‑half results: Elecnor posted a 35.7 % profit increase to €68.1 million and a 28 % rise in EBITDA, while Abanca’s net profit slipped 9.6 % to €386 million despite a modest pretax profit gain and the addition of more than 10 000 new Portuguese customers.
