Iberdrola posts 22% profit rise as Spanish energy firms boost earnings

Iberdrola reported a net profit of €4.34 billion for the first half of the year, a 22 % increase from the same period last year. Adjusted profit reached €3.57 billion, up 8 % year‑on‑year, driven by a strong performance in its networks business and higher renewable output. The group reaffirmed its 2026 target of more than 8 % growth in adjusted net profit and announced the acquisition of a controlling stake in Finland’s Caruna distribution network.

Separately, Naturgy posted a net profit of €1.215 billion for the same period, a 6 % rise, and lifted its 2026 outlook, aiming for a record net profit above €2.1 billion and EBITDA over €5.5 billion. The company also declared an interim dividend of €0.60 per share. Both firms highlighted resilience amid volatile energy markets and ongoing investments in renewable generation and grid infrastructure.

Iberdrola also received the GlobalCapital Bond Awards 2026 for its green‑bond issuance and the World Finance Sustainability Awards 2026 as Europe’s most sustainable utility, underscoring its focus on decarbonisation and sustainable financing.
