Iberdrola's Avangrid launches 57 MW Oregon Trail solar plant in Oregon, USA

Iberdrola, through its US subsidiary Avangrid, has begun installing panels for the Oregon Trail Solar photovoltaic plant in Gilliam County, Oregon. The project will have a capacity of 57 MW (DC), feature more than 100,000 panels and is expected to start operating next year.

The solar farm will create around 200 jobs during construction and generate enough clean electricity to power roughly 10,000 households annually. Local officials say the plant will contribute to the regional economy through property taxes and other community‑benefit mechanisms that can fund schools and infrastructure. Oregon Trail Solar joins Avangrid’s existing portfolio in the state, including the 205 MW Pachwáywit Fields solar facility and the 41 MW Shutler Energy Storage battery project.

Iberdrola highlighted the development as part of its broader commitment to expand renewable generation in the United States, adding that its US operations now manage over 2,500 MW of installed capacity in Oregon and own roughly 11 GW of generation nationwide.
