Iberia launches direct Madrid‑Monterrey flights

Iberia inaugurated a new direct service between Madrid and Monterrey, operating three weekly flights on an Airbus A330‑200 that seats 288 passengers in both business and economy. The outbound flight departs Madrid at 13:10, arriving in Monterrey at 17:05, while the return leaves Monterrey at 18:35 and lands in Madrid at 13:05 the next day, with services on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The route is part of Iberia’s Plan 2030, which aims to expand its network to over 53,000 seats linking Monterrey with more than 100 destinations worldwide, increasing total capacity to Mexico by about 8 %.

Company officials highlighted the strategic importance of the market: commercial director María Jesús López Solás noted that Monterrey now becomes a key Mexican gateway, while corporate director Juan Cierco said the service is a major 2026 bet and may eventually become a daily connection, mirroring the existing Mexico‑City route. Iberia also announced a €6 billion investment under Plan 2030, with 70 % earmarked for fleet renewal.
