Iberseries & Platino Industria highlights global SPLATAM content growth

The Iberseries & Platino Industria conference in Madrid highlighted significant shifts in the global audiovisual market. Data from Parrot Analytics revealed that the Argentine Netflix series ‘The Eternaut’ significantly impacted subscriber metrics, estimating a boost of 236,000 new subscribers and approximately 2.78 million membership renewals.

Market trends indicate a surge in demand for Spanish- and Portuguese-language (SPLATAM) content in non-SPLATAM markets. South Korea has emerged as a primary driver of this growth, seeing a 243 percent increase in demand, followed by Japan at 148 percent and Turkey at 132 percent. For the first time in 2025, non-SPLATAM markets accounted for the majority of global demand for this content.

Additionally, the Madrid Audiovisual Cluster (MAC) hosted sessions focused on industry innovation. These programs examined the integration of artificial intelligence, new business models, and emerging technologies across the audiovisual value chain, emphasizing the use of AI as a tool to support human-driven storytelling.
