Ibex 35 slips then recovers near 19,400 as oil prices fall

Spain’s Ibex 35 opened lower on Wednesday, sliding about 0.2% to 19,432.5 points after an early dip of roughly 0.8%, before stabilising near 19,400. The drop coincided with Brent crude edging up 0.1% to around $73 per barrel and U.S. WTI trading near $69.5. Dividend payouts were announced for Redeia, Inmobiliaria del Sur and Sacyr, while Iberdrola reduced its capital by €137.1 million. Audax Renovables defended its voluntary takeover offer for Norway’s Elmera, and Ibercaja named a new external board member.

On Tuesday, the index recovered, gaining 0.09% to 19,404.1 points and breaching the 19,400 threshold. Oil prices fell, with Brent down 1.4% to $72.1 and WTI down 1.1% to $70. Corporate news included OHLA’s AGM, Indra’s board reshuffle, Dia’s €20 million share‑buyback, Amazon Spain’s €290 million pre‑tax profit, SEPI’s €130 million net profit, and CAF’s €1.521 dividend. Housing transactions dropped 10.2% year‑on‑year, while average square‑meter prices rose 9.4%.

Within the Ibex, the biggest losers were Amadeus and Enagás, while ArcelorMittal, Solaria and Acciona posted the largest gains. European peers showed mixed moves: the FTSE 100 fell 0.4% on Wednesday but rose 0.1% on Tuesday, the DAX edged up 0.1% and 0.7% respectively, and the CAC 40 dipped 0.3% then rose 0.3%. Spain’s 10‑year bond yield was around 3.38%, and the euro traded near $1.14.
